5 Things I've Learned in College

1. Fear and Uncertainty is a Good Things
As a naive freshman entering college, I had the idea that I had to have everything figured out. What I going to major in, what job I wanted, etc. But like every college student, change comes and your path is altered. Some things are out of your control, however, do not lose sight of your dreams. All the challenges and obstacles will be worth it in the end.

2. People Will Come and Go in Your Life
The friends you make the first week of freshman year, may not be your friends till graduation. During the first few weeks and even first months, people naturally cling together because it is nice to have someone your can hang out. Maybe you hang out because you live on the same floor or have the same class together. However, do not freak out if you fall out of touch with the person the following year. Like any relationship, people will come and go into your life and that is okay.

3. Not Having a Definitive Major is COMPLETELY normal
Not having a major or being undeclared is very common among college students. Do not freak out if you still don't know what you what to major in. Being undeclared gives you the opportunity to see where your interest lie and to explore the different programs your university offers.

4. College is Not Like the Movies
As much as we would all love our college experiences to be like the movies, it probably won't be. I, like many freshman, had an expectation on how my college years were going to go. But in reality, not every weekend will be filled with cool parties and meeting interesting people. Some nights or weekends will be spend sitting in your room watching Netflix or in the library studying.

5. Just Breathe and Enjoy It
College will not last forever so enjoy it while you can. Appreciate not have to go to class till noon or wearing sweatpants everyday. When your thrown off your path, remember what you are striving for and to keep moving forward.
